Zenonas Namavičius (2002–2011)

Zenonas Namavičius was born in 1943. After he graduated from the Faculty of Law of Vilnius University in 1967, he continued as a university teacher in the Department of Theory and History of State and Law, Vice-dean, and later Dean of the Faculty of Law of Vilnius University until 1993. In 1973, he finished his post-graduate studies in M. V. Lomonosov Moscow State University and maintained his doctoral thesis. He was a member of the group for the preparation of a draft Constitution. In 1991–1993, he was Vice-rector of Vilnius University. In 1993–1999, he was the Republic of Lithuania’s Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany, whilst, in 2000–2002, he was the Republic of Lithuania’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation. In 1989–1992, he was Chairperson of the Lithuanian Lawyers’ Society. In 2002–2011, he was a justice of the Constitutional Court.
