Juozas Žilys (1993–1999, 1993–1999 – President)

Juozas Žilys was born in 1942. In 1968, after he had graduated from the Faculty of Law of Vilnius University, he worked as a consultant, chief consultant and head of the Juridical Division of the Presidium of the Supreme Council. At the same time, he taught constitutional law at Vilnius University. In 1992, he was appointed the Head of the Juridical Department of the Seimas. He was the head of the working group for drafting the Constitution. In 1993–1999, he was a justice and the President of the Constitutional Court.
