DR. ELEANOR SHARPSTON, A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE UK AT THE COURT OF
  JUSTICE OF THE EUROPEAN UNION, HAS VISITED THE CONSTITUTIONAL
                              COURT

     The  Constitutional  Court  was  visited  by  Dr.    Eleanor
Sharpston, a representative of the UK at the Court of Justice  of
the  European  Union. The guest was accepted by Prof.   Gediminas
Mesonis, a Justice of the Constitutional Court.
     In  the  conversation  there  was a  discussion  about   the
influence of the European Court of Justice and the European Court
of Human Rights on the jurisprudence of the Constitutional  Court
of the Republic of Lithuania. In addition, the current tendencies
and  issues  in  protection of human rights  and  freedoms   were
reviewed.
     The guest informed about the legal arguments invoked by  the
United  Kingdom  while  representing its interests  in   European
courts.
