          CEREMONY OF FAREWELL AND GREETING OF JUSTICES
                                
     The farewell ceremony of the Justices of the  Constitutional
Court  of Lithuania who are finishing their term of office,   and
greeting  of the new Justices of the Constitutional Court,   will
take  place tomorrow, at the Constitutional Court of   Lithuania.
Mr.  Valdas Adamkus, President of the Republic of Lithuania,  Mr.
Viktoras  Muntianas,  Speaker of the Seimas, and  Mr.   Gediminas
Kirkilas,  Prime Minister, will attend the ceremony. Mr.   Gun?rs
Kūtris,  President of the Constitutional Court of Latvia and  the
delegation   led  by  Mr.  Jerzy  Stępień,  President  of     the
Constitutional  Tribunal of Poland, will take part in the   event
dedicated for the occasion.
     There  Justices  who finish their term of office  are:   Mr.
Egidijus  Kūris,  President  of  the  Constitutional  Court    of
Lithuania  and  Justices  Mr.  Stasys  Stačiokas  and    Vytautas
Sinkevičius.  Three new Justices will start their term of  office
at  the  Constitutional Court: Mr. Pranas Kuconis, Mr.   Algirdas
Taminskas and Mr. Egidijus Šileikis.
     According to the Law on the Constitutional Court, the  newly
appointed  Justices shall take an oath in the Seimas on the  last
working  day before their term of office commences, which is   on
Friday.
     Until  the  new  President is appointed, the  President   at
interim  will  be Mr. Kęstutis Lapinskas, the Justice  with   the
biggest experience in this court.
     The  composition of the Constitutional Court is renewed   by
one third each three years.
