VISIT OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE EUROPEAN COURT OF HUMAN RIGHTS MR.
                           J. P. COSTA

     The  President  of the European Court of Human  Rights   Mr.
Jean-Paul Costa who is arriving on 10th of March 2008, during his
visit  will deliver a speech at the Lithuanian Parliament   which
will  be  dedicated  to  the  commemoration  of  restoration   of
Lithuania's  independence, will meet the leaders of the   country
and will give a lecture at the Constitutional Court of Lithuania.
     His  visit  includes  a meeting with the President  of   the
Kaunas District Court Mr. Albertas Milinis and his colleagues, as
well  other judges working in Kaunas. Mr. J. P. Costa will   meet
the Justices of the Constitutional Court and will give a  lecture
"State of Human Rights in a Country of Transition".
     The President of the European Court of Human Rights will  be
received by the President of the Republic of Lithuania Mr. Valdas
Adamkus, the Prime Minister Mr. Gediminas Kirkilas, the  Chairman
of  the  Parliament Mr. Viktoras Muntianas and the  Minister   of
Justice Mr. Petras Baguška.
     Mr. J. P. Costa has started his term as the President of the
European Court of Human Rights in January 2008. During his  visit
to  Lithuania,  he  will be accompanied by the  Justice  of   the
European  Court  of  Human  Rights from  Lithuania  Mrs.   Danutė
Jočienė.
